MacHeist (update 4)

Most people in the Mac sphere already know MacHeist and if they don’t they’re probably not going to find it out through my blog but hey… Each year quite a few Mac software developers bundle their software in the MacHeist bundle allowing people to purchase 1011 applications for a ridiculous low price, $49 all of which is afterwards donated to a good cause. This year include CoverSutra, Cha-Ching, Pixelmator, CSSEdit, AppZapper and quite a few more, check out Macheist.com for the details. Today 2 friends and I purchased the bundle, so we paid $99 which translates to Ä68,60 divided by three that gives us Ä22,85. So I just bought ten pieces of very good and useful software for Ä22,85 which cost if you’d buy them separately $368,75 which gives us Ä250,17. As you can see, this is a very profitable deal and I’m very happy with it and glad that the money goes to a good cause such as research for AIDS and cancer, two diseases I both lost loved ones to. Don’t like all the apps but just want one or two? Add the total cost of the apps you want together and if you’re cheaper with MacHeist just buy the bundle anyway. You get a ton of extra apps and you’re helping out a hand. Don’t like any of the apps? Too bad, check again next year, the bundle changes every time, last year we had TextMate for example.

In a recent update Speed Download has been added to the MacHeist bundle

Update 2 14-01-2007 20:39: the full MacHeist bundle has now been unlocked but strange things are happening. As we wait for one last killer unlockable app all icon apps have disappeared from the macheist frontpage… omgwtfbbq!!1\o/

Update 3 14-01-2007 21:19: MacHeist server is down with the following notice on the front page: Server is p0wn3′d. BRB.

Update 4 14-01-2007 21:59: MacHeist is back up and flying, no news on one last unlockable application though.
