Yup, Warcraft III… it has been a while since I played that game but since my housemates are into it to and we are 4 in total which is perfect for a TD I decided to install everything again.
- Install Warcraft III
- Install The Frozen Throne Expansion
- Download the 1.21b patch and apply
- Download the 1.22a patch and apply
Notice: because of a bug in the 1.22a full patch it will blow up your Warcraft III installation and causing the following message when you try to start the game:
Sorry, could not start Warcraft III
By installing the 1.21b patch first we manage to work around this problem.
Now Warcraft III is all ready and you can go play but unfortunately, Warcraft III does not support my resolution natively (1680×1050). The only way to get it to work is to do some real life h4×0r1ng.
- Start The Frozen Throne once so the necessary Preference Files are created
- Download ResFool
- Rename resfool.dmg.bin to resfool.dmg and open the diskimage
- Start ResFool
- File > Open: your homedir/Library/Preferences/com.blizzard.WarcraftIII
- Hit the arrow to expand the HKEY entry
- Double-click on the Video\reswidth entry
- Select Edit > Interpret with Template and select WIND as the Resource Type and hit Apply
- Expand the BoundsRect entry and change the Right entry to the width of your screen (mine would be 1680) and hit Save, close the window
- Now we do the same thing for the Video\resheight entry but now we set the Right entry to the height of our screen (mine would be 1050), Save and close the window
- Close ResFool
- Start Warcraft III and you should be in the resolution you just set.

i hav a problem…ive installed W3 on my macbook, and i hav also installed FT, but wen i try to open FT it says “Warcraft 3 will not initialize”…i downloaded the patch (1.24c) and tried to open it, but it wont run the patch…it just says “Insert the CD” blah blah blah. after i inserted the CD the same thing happens………………………..any help?
